"MASHED on Moving Day"
my first experiment in Kindle Unlimited
Today I moved “Mashed on Moving Day,” a story involving Nikki, her favorite toy, and four sweaty movers, from Ream to Kindle, exclusively on Amazon for 90 days. I plan to move four more stories — “Pounded at Pirate Land,” “Beach Volleyball Bump,” “Groped by the Garage Band,” and “Shagged at the Bookshop” — along the same path over the next two weeks.
This is in part an experiment in whether Kindle Unlimited can help me get more traction and visibility in the Amazon space. So far, most of my sales have come from Smashwords and Apple Books, with a relatively small number of Amazon sales. Kindle Unlimited gives complementary reading to subscribers of books that are exclusively on Amazon, and also pays authors for page reads. In theory, it should help to make my other titles more visible to KU readers, even if they’re not available directly on KU.
I’m a little nervous about the exclusivity, given that most of my books are selling better on other platforms. Excerpts of these stories have had some luck on Medium, which has a much smaller subscriber base than Kindle Unlimited, so if they’re visible to KU readers they may draw some eyes. But KU is a big space, and I’m not sure how much one little book — or even five little books — will get noticed.
But I’m also excited for you to read this story, whether you read it as a KU subscriber or buy it for the $2.99 price. It’s a fun story, and I think Nikki has a pretty good time. It’s also one of the stories I’ve written recently with an appearance by an Owen Gray-inspired character, so if you dig a dude with tats in your erotica, this is right up your alley. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
