(Not So) Guilty Pleasures
40+ flavors of spice, one sweet cause
My writing schedule over the last couple weeks has been completely upended by a surprise project: (Not So) Guilty Pleasures, a charity anthology for World Central Kitchen’s relief work organized by the inimitable (and thoroughly awesome) Lacey Cross. You can pre-order this massive collection — 40+ stories! — for delivery October 28.
The assignment was 2.5-5K words, with the heat level cranked to 11. My problem is that in most of my stories, while I can definitely get the heat to ridiculous heights, it takes me a while to get there. I thought I’d do a prequel to Dorothy’s Farmhouse Flings, but at 4.5K words the heat was still hovering around 9 and I had a lot more story to tell. Then I tried shifting gears, and ended up with a good start on a novella that will need another 10K words or so. A couple more attempts resulted in more outlines to some great future stories, but nothing like what Lacey was looking for.
Finally, I just distilled the heat into a 4K word short involving toys, blindfolds, and a little light D/s that I’m calling “Trust Fall.” I think it has potential to be something longer in the future, but I was able to convince my brain to leave it alone long enough to call it done.
If you like spicy stories (I know you do!), and you like supporting good causes (surely that’s a fact as well!), then you really ought to pre-order this anthology, or clear up some space in your Kindle Unlimited library for its release on October 28. It’s chock full of filthy stories by some of my favorite writers — Lacey Cross, Kristin Lance, Ian Snow, Alec Lake, Grace Beaumont, Ruan Willow … — and is guaranteed to be packed with all your favorite kinks. But it will only be available for a limited time, so this is definitely not an offer to sleep on!

Sounds fascinating ... what a great project.
