One more thing I don't have in common with Richard Spencer ...
I guess I should have been working on that "Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS" fanfic instead ...
Last week I got the dreaded “your account is in violation of the Stripe Services Agreement” for selling adult content and will therefore be closed, effective December 20, unless my appeal is successful. I’ve disabled the paid subscriber link that gave access to my stories, and I’m working on other ways to deliver that content to the folks who paid for it, while also going down the appeal route with no particular optimism about its success. If you’re a paid subscriber, watch your inbox for options — I want to make sure you get what you paid for!
Meanwhile, do you know who’s able to monetize their content on Substack? That’s right, everyone’s favorite punchable Nazi, Richard B. Spencer.
I already had very little in common with Mr. Spencer, and it appears that being able to sell words on Substack is just one more thing that differentiates us. While I accept that Stripe and Substack are well within their rights to have rules that allow them to profit off vile Nazi dreck while banning fun and filthy erotica, I do have to question what moral calculus would bring one to that position.
It should be noted that the monstrous ideas that Mr. Spencer and his kind spread have a body count that’s very different from the body count in my stories. While Mia, Olive, Tiffany, Vanna, Madeline, Casey, Cassie, Nikki, Vickie, and the gang are scoring with the guys (and gals) in fully consensual and voluntary (and make-believe) erotic romps, Nazis are spreading lies and playing on fears and hatred that have resulted in mass murders. The real world impact of my stories is (I hope) a few self-administered orgasms, a little extra spice in the bedroom, and maybe someone deciding to explore a new kink with the people they love; the real world impact of Mr. Spencer et al is … well, none of those things.
Substack has been a good place for me to find readers and other writers; I’ve enjoyed sharing the stories behind my stories, the tips and tricks I’ve discovered in my journey in independent publishing, and the fun new kinks I’ve stumbled on while exploring erotica. It hasn’t, honestly, been an especially good place for making money — I don’t have a lot of paid subscribers (even though it’s currently a pretty good deal, well below retail for all the content you get!). So if the appeal is unsuccessful, I’m not going to miss a big revenue stream. You can find all my stories at all the usual outlets, and Stripe need not stain their lily white hands with any of my filth.
If the appeal is unsuccessful, I’ll probably keep up my weekly postings here, and continue the “My Filthy Hobby” series while making all of the content available for free — I believe it’s safe to give away smut (or smut-adjacent content), just not to sell it. Though I’ll also be cross-posting it on SubscribeStar and Ream, platforms with a little bit less of a Nazi problem.
Anyway — keep reading dirty stories, and keep punching Nazis!
It seems quite random who gets hit with this. Good luck, wherever you sell.
