Pounded at Pirate Land
In which Owen Gray makes another uncredited appearance in one of my gangbangs
You can probably tell from the titles of these stories that I brainstormed a bunch of alliterative "[euphemism for sex] [at/in/on] [location or event]" titles when I decided I was going to delve into gangbang stories for a while. I've got a Google Doc where I jot down thoughts as they come to me, and then when I feel stuck for something I can go back and find inspiration — it's a little gift from past me to future me, and I think past me is pretty great sometimes. (Except when she over promises on a release schedule, not realizing that present me is going to get distracted.)
There are, in fact, at least nine more gangbangs lurking in that document, along with some MMF and FFM menage ideas, notes for a fun little road trip series, some new Cassie Snow stories, and a handful of taboo erotica ideas that my evil twin, Quentin Quick, has been writing when I get stuck on a Cornelia project. I'm seeing some action at an art museum, an outlet mall, a craft brewery, and with the rowing crew ("Railed by the Rowing Crew," naturally) in future releases.
"Pounded at Pirate Land" was a fun one to write because of the setting. I like a good theme park, especially an off-brand, high-concept theme park that doesn't quite know what it's doing. Pirate Land is definitely one of those. It seems mostly kid oriented, selling plastic swords and paper pirate hats, but it also caters to the historically-minded crowd with its replica pirate ship, "The Siren's Grief" (and don't think there isn't a story coming set on a pirate ship called "The Siren's Grief"!).
And what's with the topless luau? Who are these people trying to attract to the park? This was actually sort of inspired by childhood memories of visiting Walt Disney World in the 1970s and seeing the original Polynesian Revue — all I really remember was the darkness, the torches, and the smell of roasting pork, and there was a vaguely scary feeling to it all, probably because it was strange and confusing to a little Canadian-American girl on one of her first big trips. Obviously, topless waitstaff were not a part of the Disney Polynesian Revue, then or now, but a gal can dream ...
I also liked the heroine for this story, Denise. She took a summer job as a jill-of-all-trades at Pirate Land, hoping for a series of passionate love affairs, and found herself fixated on guys who just weren't up to the task: Brad is staying true to his girlfriend back home, Andrew just isn't very good at closing the deal, and bad boy Victor is in an unattainable category for a good girl like Denise. It turns out she's not really that good, though, and she orchestrates a threesome with Brad and Andrew that becomes a surprise foursome — with ropes.
The ropes were an obvious requirement for a pirate-themed gangbang. All that rigging! Fancy knots! Hammocks below decks! As I've noted before, I'm pretty vanilla in my own sex life, though obviously I'm kink curious and exploration positive. And while my husband and I have played around a bit with blindfolds — I highly recommend them — rope and bondage play are well outside my personal experience. This story required a good deal of research to get the rope scenes remotely right; proper rope play takes a lot of practice and attention to detail, and describing the rope play in a way that's accurate but also doesn't distract from the main action is quite the challenge. I've returned to the ropes, or at least complex bondage contraptions, a few times since, most notably in the short story "Proprioception" and in "Madeline's Awakening," in which one of Madeline's fellow gangbang unicorns has a fantasy of being ravished in a giant bird cage.
Did you recognize Owen Gray again in this story? Yep, my favorite hipster pornstar with intricate tattoos makes an appearance as Victor, the globe-trotting bartender over whom both Denise and her roommate, Nadine, swoon. In this version, he's also a master of shibari, the art of Japanese rope bondage. I mean, why not? In my imagination, there's absolutely nothing that Owen Gray can't accomplish in the bedroom, and if that bedroom is on a pirate ship, clearly he's going to have to accomplish some intricate knots. I haven't seen any rope bondage videos with Owen yet, but — hey, Owen, if you're listening? You've got a fan who would definitely like to see you do some rigging ...
I said that I like Denise, and I do: she's got high standards, and she's going to hold everyone to them. But she's also a little too demanding — her roommate, Nadine, has significantly lower standards, and seems to be having quite a bit more fun. I've been working off and on (mostly off, alas) on a subscriber-only bonus story that features Nadine in her own gangbang at the closing night bonfire; unlike Denise, who has curated her experience down to two (and a pleasant surprise third) participants, Nadine has a far more expansive vision for a bonfire gangbang.
Like "Mashed on Moving Day," "Pounded at Pirate Land" is part of my experiment with Kindle Unlimited. And while it hasn't done badly sales wise, it has definitely underperformed in Kindle Unlimited reads, with KU accounting for about 7% of my royalties. I think it could do a little better out in the wider world; we'll see in November.
